Building Block - Maths Problem

As part of maths Ofa and I worked collaboratively to figure out an answer for our math problem the week. We created a DLO showing our working and the process we used to solve the problem. The problem for this week was called 'Building Blocks'. It was hard at the start because we had multiples of ways to solve the problem but we didn't know which one was right. So we decided to try out all the strategies and selected the right one. It is important to read the maths problem a lot of times to understand what the problem is talking about.

Art - Tech

At Art Tech at Tamaki college we were learning about Personal Symbols. Today we started drawing on the paper our own personal symbols and the words to match our Personal Symbols. For my drawings I wrote the words tennis, Sky Tower, rock melon and Japanese flag. The drawings were quite hard because the paper was too small but I managed to finish the task for today.

Chinese New Year

Since it almost the Chinese New Year, this week LS2 worked in pairs to write an explanation that tells people how Chinese New Year is celebrated, why people celebrate it, and the story behind the zodiac animals. This task was very different from my normal writing tasks. This is because I had to partner up with some from Mrs Anderson's writing group. I chose to go with Sanujan, since we work well together. This task was a bit hard because, I had to explain to Sanujan the definition of some advanced vocabulary, for example, 'auspicious'. It was fun sharing our ideas as we learnt new information together.

Maths Problem - Electives

As part of our math task we were solving out a math problem given by Miss Kirkpatrick. I was working collaboratively with Ofa and Fraidoon. For this problem we used our multiplication, division and subtraction skills and were lucky to get the right answers. At first we were struggling because we didn't understand it so we read it twice and wrote all the key points from the problem. After trying a few times we figured the answer out. Today I learnt how to use my times table facts to find a fraction of a set.
