Who Am I?

For the past previous week LS2 have been working on a challenge called Who Am I? This challenge is like Where Am I from but instead it is based on famous people around the world such as Tenzing Norgay, Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana etc. There were 10 people and for the task given we were to write down who they are, where there from, why are they famous, quote (if they have one), 5 facts about them, their country on google maps, their flag, and a picture of them. This was a lot of work which is why I was working with Ofa and Alex.

Reading - Poem (Did I Miss Anything)

Did I Miss Anything?

Question frequently asked by students after missing a class

Nothing. When we realised you weren’t here
we sat with our hands folded on our desks
in silence, for the full two hours
Everything. I gave an exam worth
40 percent of the grade for this term
and assigned some reading due today
on which I’m about to hand out a quiz
worth 50 percent

Nothing. None of the content of this course
has value or meaning
Take as many days off as you like:
any activities we undertake as a class
I assure you will not matter either to you or me
and are without purpose

Everything. A few minutes after we began the last time
a shaft of light descended and an angel
or other heavenly being appeared
and revealed to us what each woman or man must do
to attain divine wisdom in this life and the hereafter
This is the last time the class will meet
before we disperse to bring this good news to all people
on earth

Nothing. When you are not present
how could something significant occur?

Everything. Contained in this classroom
is a microcosm of human existence
assembled for you to query and examine and ponder
This is not the only place such an opportunity has been
gathered

but it was one place

And you weren’t here

(Tom Wayman)

There are two ‘voices’ in the poem.
Who do you think it talking in the Nothing verses?
I think Nothing will be the Students.

Who do you think is talking in the Everything verses?
I think Everything will be a Teacher.

  • Disperse - Disperse means that something is spretting out.
  • Significant - Having a particular meaning
  • Microcosm - Microcosm means a small group.
  • Existence - Existence means that something that exist or alive.

Take ONE of the verses in the poem and illustrate it.

Reading - Labeling

Today for reading my group Ponui and Pakatoa worked together to labeling the books. The book we read was called Man made World. The reason that we chose to put the labels on the colossally and world page was it has lots of thing that we can label. For example inset, bold print or illustration.

Current Events

For Inquiry Freeman and I created a DLO about what happening in the news recently.
This is a current even about the Chinese Government banding the sales and killing Elephants
and Rhinos for ivory. Freeman and I thinks that this was a good decision because we want
