Inquiry - Peace

This term for Inquiry we were learning about Peace. The reasons behind it is simple. We were learning about this to as an commemoration all the soldier that fought in the World War 1 and 2. Did you know that it has been 100 years since World War 1 ended. I learnt that peace symbols were designed in 1958 by the British artist and designer Gerald Holtom. We think peace is important words to have because 'Peace is when there is freedom from war, argument and live together without violence. Also respect values and get a long together with each other'. For this activity I worked with Josh and Aung Naing.

Building Bridge

For Inquiry we were building bridges. Today our group manege to finish main part which is Deck and Sides. To build the bridge properly we worked collaboratively and talked to each other. The hardest thing was using the glue and sticking the tooth picks. Our challenge was to make a strongest bridge that can curry heavy things. We also need to measure length and width and counting the tooth pick that we had used. The tooth pick costs 25 cents each. For this learning I worked with Josh, Jay Don and Reneir.

Hineahuone - The Making of the First Women.

For inquiry we will be learning about the body system and to incorporate traditional Maori stories Mrs Anderson has prepared an inquiry about the Maori belief of Hineahuone. In Maori myth Hineahuone was the first lady created. She was created because the gods created an immaculate earth but their was no one to enjoy it. So Tane Mahuta molded Hineahuone out of the red earth. The impressed Tāwhirimātea whispered "Take my breath, and give her life." Tane then bent over the women he made and breathed deeply. The woman's chest moved and she sneezed. "Tihei" the god's were ecstatic. Today the hongi is a traditional welcome that came to be because of the story of Hineahuone.

Note: If can not clearly see the pictures or the words you can click on them to have a better view.

South Korea is a country near China, Japan, North Korea, Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand. One fact I found interesting is the New Years Day in South Korea in same with Chinese New Year (16th of February).
