Reading - Poem (Did I Miss Anything)
Did I Miss Anything?
Question frequently asked by students after missing a class
Nothing. When we realised you weren’t here
we sat with our hands folded on our desks
in silence, for the full two hours
Everything. I gave an exam worth
40 percent of the grade for this term
and assigned some reading due today
on which I’m about to hand out a quiz
worth 50 percent
Nothing. None of the content of this course
has value or meaning
Take as many days off as you like:
any activities we undertake as a class
I assure you will not matter either to you or me
and are without purpose
Everything. A few minutes after we began the last time
a shaft of light descended and an angel
or other heavenly being appeared
and revealed to us what each woman or man must do
to attain divine wisdom in this life and the hereafter
This is the last time the class will meet
before we disperse to bring this good news to all people
on earth
Nothing. When you are not present
how could something significant occur?
Everything. Contained in this classroom
is a microcosm of human existence
assembled for you to query and examine and ponder
This is not the only place such an opportunity has been
gathered
but it was one place
And you weren’t here
(Tom Wayman)
There are two ‘voices’ in the poem.
Who do you think it talking in the Nothing verses?
I think Nothing will be the Students.
Who do you think is talking in the Everything verses?
I think Everything will be a Teacher.

Explanation Writing - How has technology changed the way we learn?
How has technology changed the way we learn?
Did you know technology is changing every year? In the olden days at school they used Slate to write with, but over we now use Chromebooks and iPad to write with.
Slate is a board that we can write with using a chalk. They are called slate because it is made out of slate. Slate were very important to students in school but slate has one problem. Students couldn’t rewind their work.
Then whiteboards were common to be used because it is easy to use and very important to the student in school. They can erase the words easily and quicker than a pencil or chalk but this was still can’t rewind their work.
Schools have started to use Chromebook and iPad. This has helped students do their work. Students can write faster, search information and delete words. They can also save your work so they can rewind. Now we can share the work to everyone in the World using a blog.
In 2018 we don’t use slate to write because we have a new technology called iPad and Chromebook. This shows schools have changed a lot of technology so we might don’t use Chromebook and iPad in the future as well.
_________________________________________________________________________
This week for writing we are learning about how technology changed the way we learn. Then we wrote a explanation about how does technology change over time. To write a explanation we watched a you-tube video and wrote down the list of information. Next we searched up some of the information so we can check or add to the list.

Maths Problem
Today we played the Radius and Diameter game on Khad Academy and we were to make a DLO with three of the problems and explain how we solved the three questions. For one of the questions it says: If the radius is 7.5 what is the diameter. This was pretty easy because all you had to do was times 7.5 by 2. The answer was 15. There were 2 others that we explained in our DLO. If you don't know what the radius and the diameter is well the radius is half the circle and the diameter is times the radius.

Explanations Writing - Camels
How have camels adapted to their environment?
Did you know that Camels can survive on the desert without the water for 30 days! The reason that camels can lived in a desert for long time is that they get use to their environment.
In desert we can see a lot of sand and it is very dry and hot. Normally the temperature will be a 42 degrees so camels have a thick pads to protect their feet and also chest so they can lay down on the sand to rest. Also in desert they don’t see lots of plants because it is too hot for them to grow but one of the famous plants can be grown. Which is a Cactus.
The camels also have a thick lips to eat bone, twig and cactus. The cactus has a lots of water so it helps to hydrate themselves. In desert it also has a very strong wind and to protect them camels have a double eyelashes and lots of hair around the body, also inside a ears and camels can close and open their nose.
The humps are made out of fat. Camel used a hump fat as a food or water source. To walk on the sand for long time they need a strong legs so they have a skinny and strong legs. Also flat feet so they don’t sink in the sand. The colour of the camels also helps to blend them in their environment.

We can understand that each animal changes their body to get use to their
environment. For example penguin lived in a cold place so they have a lots of
fat on their body to keep them warm.

Formal and Informal Letters
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
_________________________________________________________________________
Today for reading we were learning about Formal Letters and Informal Letters. I understand that Formal language is the language used for greeting card, Email, Workmates, parents or grand parents. The Informal language is the language used to text massage, talking to the friends, grocery list or talking to the family. The top writing shows example of formal sentence and bottom sentence shows example of informal sentence. To understand the top sentence are the formal they used 'I am writing to complain, Condition of the playground, a great deal of litter'. Also you can understand that bottom sentences are the Informal because they used the word 'How are you, dead busy and to get ready.
