Explanations Writing - Camels

How have camels adapted to their environment?

Did you know that Camels can survive on the desert without the water for 30 days! The reason that camels can lived in a desert for long time is that they get use to their environment.

In desert we can see a lot of sand and it is very dry and hot. Normally the temperature will be a 42 degrees so camels have a thick pads to protect their feet and also chest so they can lay down on the sand to rest. Also in desert they don’t see lots of plants because it is too hot for them to grow but one of the famous plants can be grown. Which is a Cactus.

The camels also have a thick lips to eat bone, twig and cactus. The cactus has a lots of water so it helps to hydrate themselves. In desert it also has a very strong wind and to protect them camels have a double eyelashes and lots of hair around the body, also inside a ears and camels can close and open their nose.

The humps are made out of fat. Camel used a hump fat as a food or water source. To walk on the sand for long time they need a strong legs so they have a skinny and strong legs. Also flat feet so they don’t sink in the sand. The colour of the camels also helps to blend them in their environment.

We can understand that each animal changes their body to get use to their
environment. For example penguin lived in a cold place so they have a lots of
fat on their body to keep them warm.
